Maintenance Technician - MISSISSAUGA
Division: Maintenance Department 
Reports To: Account Manager – Interior Maintenance

Responsibility Statement:

This position is responsible for the daily maintenance and repairs at designated customer locations. The incumbent performs work that is completed accurately, on time and in keeping with SDA’s high standards of performance.

Key Results and Activities:

1. Maintenance

• Perform maintenance and repairs at designated locations as per the assigned schedule
• Perform preventive maintenance as per requested in H & S reports and/or walks
• Complete pest control repairs, on demand projects or renovations as assigned
• Execute general repairs and maintenance work using hand and power tools
• Report to Account Manager the need for major maintenance repairs detected onsite
• Ensure appropriate corrective actions are taken
• Assist Account Manager in conducting workplace inspections and Health and Safety Reports
• Provide pictures of job-related work and forward to Account Manager as directed
• Respond to work orders assigned in a timely and professional manner
• Work in collaboration with others in order to meet maintenance department metrics
• Keep minimum inventory of parts for replacement / stock up in the vehicle

2. Administrative

• Sign in /out at all assigned locations and follow customer’s procedures and rules
• Report status of completion work (date, pictures, pending work, etc.)
• Track record of all work completed for future reference
• Present timesheet and expense report in a timely manner an in accordance with monthly calendar

3. Follow SDA’s Health & Safety Policies and Procedures

• Act in accordance with the employee responsibilities of the SDA Health & Safety Policy
• Use, wear and maintain in good condition personal protective equipment and clothing required by SDA
• Report any potential or actual danger, hazard or infractions to your manager as soon as possible
• Report all incidents, accidents, workplace injuries or illnesses to your manager immediately

4. Vehicle Maintenance

• Keep vehicle clean (inside and out) and in a presentable condition
• Maintain vehicle in accordance with maintenance schedules
• Maintain inventory levels of equipment in vehicle and stock up as needed using proper requisition system
• Adhere to SDA Vehicle Policy

5. Perform other duties as assigned by management

Academic Qualifications and Experience

• High school education or equivalent work experience
• 2 years’ maintenance experience

Specialized Knowledge, Skills, Attributes Required

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Thorough knowledge of occupational hazards and safety rules and regulations
• Basic computer knowledge of Microsoft Outlook
• Valid Ontario driver’s license – Class G and clean drivers abstract
• Drywall repair, tiling, painting and carpentry work an asset


• Ability to work evenings or weekend emergencies as required

Working Conditions

• Travel offsite to customer locations
