Warehouse Operations Technician - Full Time

We have a great opportunity for a driven, service-focused individual to join our Building Maintenance
team in creating safe, clean, and productive environments for our clients and their customers.

Overview
Reporting to the Vice President of Operations and COO, this role contributes to creating an efficient and productive warehouse base from which our teams operate.

Key Results and Activities

2. Inventory Management
• Receives, organizes, manages, and tracks the incoming and outgoing flow of equipment, supplies, and materials
• Provides account managers with an updated list of inventory every week
• Ensures the distribution of supplies according to individual Work Order requirements
• Facilitates repairs to equipment as needed
• Purchases supplies on an as-needed basis

3. Fleet Management
• Coordinates and tracks the maintenance of all company vehicles including:
– Condition inspection on vehicle assignment and return
– Ensures seasonal readiness
– Facilitates repairs as required
– Coordinates tire rotation and oil changes
– GPS installation and maintenance
– Vehicle policy support
– Monthly risk assessment reports

4. Facility Management
• Manages warehouse access to ensure the security and safety of the facility, equipment, supplies and materials
• Ensures and maintains the standards and conditions inside and outside of 1061 Brevik Place
• Completes basic maintenance and repairs around the office and/or engages outside SDA contractors as required
• Conducts weekly checks of all security systems including all camera equipment
• Conducts seasonal checks and basic maintenance on HVAC RTU including filter changes, squeaky belts, etc.
• Creates and implements a Building Safety Plan which follows the municipal fire and building code standards

• Conducts Fire Drills and regularly inspects fire associations systems according to the Building

Safety Plan
• Participates on the Joint Health and Safety Committee
• Provides on-call responses to any office alarm calls

5. Other
• Additional duties assigned by the CEO or COO

Note: This role is in development and the above responsibilities will continue to evolve. Changes to
these responsibilities will be discussed in advance with the opportunity for input.

What You Need to Succeed in this Role
• Previous warehouse and facilities management experience
• Knowledge of the Ontario Fire Code, Health and Safety standards, AODA, Ontario Building Code, and Municipal Property Standards By-Laws, basic vehicle maintenance
• Familiarity with building systems and equipment such as Building Automation Systems (BAS), fire panels, material handling equipment, HVAC, forklifts, emergency generators, sprinklers, dock levelors, warehouse doors, track restraints, and compactors
• Ability to troubleshoot issues with the above building systems and equipment
• Experience with initiating emergency procedures such as fire, floods, elevator entrapment, and power outage
• Ability to remain calm and focused in emergencies
• Ease with using work order processes to address building issues
• WHMIS, Fork Lift Operator, and Working at Heights certification is an asset
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record
• Excellent problem-solving capabilities using sound judgement
• Experience with initiating and managing emergency procedures such as fire, floods, and power outage
• Ability to remain calm and focused in emergencies
• On-call emergency coverage for building security
• Dependability, strong work ethic, and self-motivation
• Strong attention to detail and responsiveness to changing priorities
• Passion for a job well done and making a difference
• An approachable style with the ability to work with individuals in different roles including union employees
• Proficient English speaking and writing skills; other languages are an asset
• Ability to listen, understand, and respond to issues appropriately
• Strength to lift, as part of daily tasks, items up to 50 lbs./23 kg
• Capability to perform work requiring standing, walking, crouching bending, kneeling as well as repetitive tasks
• Intermediate level computer literacy including Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Acrobat Adobe, Excel, and Word as well as familiarity with other building technology systems
• A keen interest in learning and developing new skills
• Eligibility to work in Canada with current documentation
